Chiropractic and Children

"Being a mom is a tough job. There is nothing more important to us than making sure our child is healthy and happy. We make sure they eat right, that they visit their pediatrician regularly, or that they even play with meaningful and engaging toys. What many parents fail to realize is spinal health is just as important, if not more important than many of those things. Having a healthy, fully functioning nervous system free of subluxations is one step toward a happy and healthy child. The only way to assure this happens is through regular chiropractic adjustments.

My daughter Keely was born via an uncomplicated birth. Still, as she descended through the birth canal, her little body twisted and wriggled through the tight squeeze to make her way out into the world. As I got regular chiropractic adjustments throughout my life and especially during my pregnancy, I knew that Keely would too benefit from an adjustment. Within five days of her birth, she had her first adjustment. It wasn’t scary or alarming in any way. The chiropractor gently examined Keely as she lay still as if somehow she was aware of what he was doing. With a few taps, Keely’s spine was back in perfect alignment and ready to begin her life in a healthy, functional way.

People often commented on how amazingly happy and “easy” Keely was as a newborn. She had no trouble nursing or progressing through the natural milestones as she got older day by day. I can attribute this, in part, to her chiropractic adjustments. When Keely was about six months old, she became fussy and seemed uncomfortable while she tugged on her ear; a classic sign of an ear infection. This fussy behavior was very unusual for Keely so I promptly made an appointment with my chiropractor for her to get adjusted. By the time we got to the office, she was crying in pain. Within a few minutes of her adjustment, and a few taps later, she was back to her normal, happy self. The alternative to this would have been an over the counter pain reliever followed by a trip to the pediatrician’s office. Both were avoided by a quick adjustment. I always wished I had taken video before and after the visit to show people the amazing power of an adjustment.

As the days and months go by, Keely has different needs from our chiropractor. As she learned to stand and walk, she would fall often bumping her spine out of alignment. Whenever a virus is “going around” daycare, I take her in for an adjustment to make sure her immune system has every chance to fight it off. An easy way to tell it is time for an adjustment is simply by monitoring her sleeping patterns. When she stops sleeping through her normal 10-12 hours at night, I know it is time for an adjustment. Within hours of her adjustment, she is back to her “normal self”.

A mother would do anything within her power to make sure their child is safe, happy, and healthy. Why not, then, do all mothers take their children to a chiropractor? It’s such a simple and natural way to insure health. Ask Dr. Katie and Dr. Quintin about children and chiropractic today. Your child deserves it." -Cindy

Low Back Pain and Arm Tingling/Numbness

“I had been dealing with lower back pain & moderate tingling/numbness in my left arm for several months. I refused to see a general physician for the tingling – worried that I would be told I needed surgery or spend months in a neck brace or something else awful. I was so fortunate to meet Drs. Katie & Quintin Sleigh, who knew Chiropractic could help. In just a few short weeks, my lower back pain has gotten much better and Dr. Katie has eliminated the tingling completely. She has begun to address the abuse my body has suffered for years. I’m able to focus now – not distracted or worried by tingling. I’m also able to bounce out of bed without lower back pain. I just feel better. The sincere desire to help and fantastic friendliness at Sleigh Family Chiropractic set me at ease and will keep me coming back to stay healthy and hopefully avoid other symptoms before they start.”  -Kristi

Mid and Lower Back Spasms

“I have been suffering from mid and lower back spasms for the last three years which made it difficult to perform daily life functions. I was crabby and constantly in pain. I wasn’t even able to walk around the block without having pain. At its worst, it was impossible to lift my arms or walk. I was referred to Drs. Quintin & Katie by my doctor in Colorado. Since I’ve been seeing Dr. Quinitn, I’ve been doing great and I’m able to manage the pain and spasms, they no longer control me. As a result of their care my weight and attitude have improved as well.” -Meg

Radiating Hip & Leg Pain

“I had pain in my hips and knees when lying down sleeping, or sitting for any length of time since approximately 1999 or 2000 but the pain was sporadic and I elected to deal with it with over the counter drugs such as Tylenol, etc.

In 2006 the pain in my hips and or knees was becoming more frequent and would wake me up from a sound sleep. I finally went to an orthopedic doctor who prescribed an MRI, which showed my hips and knees were okay but problems with my back. He suggested an epidural shot in my lower back. I received a series of four epidural shots beginning in January of 2007 and the last on June 1st of 2009. Realizing the epidural shots were becoming less effective and wanting to avoid a back operation I considered going to a chiropractor.

My first visit with Dr. Katie was in July of 2009. I was given a thorough examination at that time including x-rays which showed the problems with my back and neck. To my surprise the x-ray also showed a large kidney stone in my left kidney which I was completely unaware of.

I began meeting twice a week with Dr. Katie and by the end of August I was sleeping all night without waking up from pain in my hips, legs, or knees. The pain I suffered was not severe but it did prevent me from getting a night’s sleep or sitting for any length of time. I am grateful for what she has done for me. Getting a good night’s sleep is priceless.”   -John

Shoulder Pain & Headaches

"For several years, I had a stiff neck and shoulder muscles which would cause frequent headaches. In the beginning it was intermittent, and could often be reduced with exercise and weight training. The pain was mild to moderate and I suffered from it most of the time, although it would get worse after a long day. As time went on the pain was more frequent until it was pretty much constant, and exercise and weight training did little to reduce the pain. At its worst I would have to stop what I was doing and lay down to take the "load" off my neck/shoulder muscles. It made me more irritable and added stress, which of course only compounded the problem. It was an inconvenience and made me feel older than I really am.

After an evaluation by Dr. Katie, I found out my shoulders and hips were mis-aligned, I had deterioration of the discs and vertebrae in the lower back, as well as a lack of curvature of the spine.

We are still doing treatment, but the pain is greatly reduced and the frequency is much less. In addition, I can do stretches to reduce/eliminate the problem if it arises.

Dr. Katie has proved to be an excellent chiropractor and I would recommend her to anyone looking for chiropractic care. She took time to explain everything very clearly and just does a very good job.

I am doing much better now and it has reduced a rather large source of stress and makes me feel myself again. Any by reducing the stress it allows me to be more relaxed and happier." -Eric

Arm/Hand Tingling & Pain and Stomach Problems

"I had suffered for over 5 years with my hands and arms falling asleep and hurting.  It started out happening every once in a while, and progressed to where my hands hurt and fell asleep every night and hurt every day.  The past couple years it had become so bad I had stopped doing the things I loved - including crocheting, baking and playing video games - or anything else that involved using my hands.  Even if it was an activity that I had to do, like painting or shoveling, I paid for it by not being able to use my hands for the next couple of days after.  I had trouble even blow-drying my hair or putting in earrings if I had overused my hands doing anything.  I had also become a klutz, dropping everything.  It became an unfortunate normal part of my everyday to drop things and then have to clean up the mess.

It was something I had decided to live with.  I didn't know if I had carpal tunnel or arthritis or something else.  I did know that whatever the medical diagnosis was, the solution would involve surgery or medications, and that I was not interested in either of those.

I met Drs. Katie and Quintin at a stress screening at work.  Dr. Katie asked me the right questions, and found out about my constant neck aches and arm and hand pain.  She suggested a full screening so we could find out and discuss whether or not she could help me.  During my full screening, Dr. Katie and I talked about all areas of health and body, and we discussed my "bad stomach".  My stomach was another problem that I had just accepted about myself.

Dr. Katie adjusts me and gives me exercises and stretches, and my hand and arm pain no longer disrupts my life. I can use my hands again to do anything I choose! The bonus is even my stomach is significantly better.

I knew of people who had seen Chiropractors, but I thoughts of them as the doctor who fixes you after a car accident.  I had become complacent about the cumulative aches and pains that disrupted my life.  I feel very fortunate for the expertise and support I receive from Sleigh Family Chiropractic."  -Kristy

Vertigo & Sciatic Leg Pain

“I came to Dr. Quintin with severe (10/10) right sciatic and buttock pain.  The pain was there with every movement and even at rest.  I was loosing sleep and time off of work.  I am not exactly sure what the injury was but it wasn’t going away.  This went on for 2+ months and I am a nurse and tried the standard treatments (rest, ice, heat, stretching) with no relief.   I was unable to enjoy anything.  A wonderful co-worker of mine suggested Sleigh Family Chiropractic.  I was scared that things wouldn’t get any better or they would get worse.  I was wrong!  I have diabetes, allergies, migraine, swelling of my legs and feet, and chronic vertigo.  Since seeing Dr. Quintin, all of the previous symptoms have improved.  My mental and spiritual health has followed along.  It is such a basic principal that we take for granted in our busy daily existence.  Our bodies are screaming for the opportunity to heal themselves and Dr. Quintin & Dr. Katie have the training and the skills to put our bodies in the perfect state for healing.  My husband is a guitar / bass guitar player & came to Dr. Quintin with tennis elbow pain.  He is much improved.  Maggie our 9yr old daughter & Alexander our 3yr old son both see Dr. Katie.  We have to take care of ourselves first to be able to give to others in our lives.  Our health is so important and Dr. Quintin & Dr. Katie help lay the foundation for better overall health.   Not to mention they are both wonderful people who are a delight to be around!!! ****” –Dawn

Shoulder Pain & Tightness

“For many years I have had severe muscle tightness in my right shoulder.  I work on the computer a lot plus I do needlework…both of which add to the muscle tightness.  I was regularly attending a chiropractor but he did not seem to help.  I would feel better for 1 or 2 days and then the tightness would be back.

I made an appointment to see Dr. Katie.  At my initial exam she discovered that there were many ‘hot spots’ along my spine that my current chiropractor had not corrected.  He was only treating one or two specific areas.  Dr. Katie takes the time to work the tightness out of the muscles at each visit…something the other chiropractor never did.  The tension area is now beginning to loosen and the really tight ‘attacks’ have diminished in frequency.  I appreciate the fact that Dr. Katie takes the time to work on those really problem areas and not just give me a ‘crack’ and send me on my way.

I have and will continue to refer people to Sleigh Family Chiropractic.  They really care about their patients.” –Lynne

Hand Tingling and Stiff Neck & Shoulders

“I started a new job last October and was on the computer for 10 hours a day, by January I had tingling in one hand extreme stiffness in my shoulders and could turn my head only about a quarter of the way, left or right.  I saw a neurologist, months of physical therapy and was no better than when I started. My daughter asked me to take my grandson to Sleigh Family Chiropractic. Being the good mother I did what my daughter asked but came out the better for it. I spoke with Drs. Katie and Quintin and explained my situation.  They tested, probed, discussed and started treatment.  I was in such pain that when Dr. Katie asked me . . . on a scale of 1 to 10, I asked for a larger scale.  Through treatment, explanation and exercise my pain is gone! After being uncomfortable for months I sleep better, feel better and will never let these two DOCTORS out of my sight.  They are kind, knowledgeable and professional... and I tell everyone I know of their incredible talent. –Charlene

Wrist Pain

“I came to see Dr. Katie after being told that the wrist pain I was experiencing would require surgery.  She reviewed my case and explained how chiropractic care would address the situation, and how surgery could be avoided if I underwent the care and followed her instructions regarding exercising and stretching.  I listened, did what was recommended, and feel much better since the inception of care.  I wasn’t a believer in chiropractic before I saw Dr. Katie, but I’ve certainly become one now.” –Michael

Low Back, Rear Shoulder & Hip Pain

“After several years (probably 6 or 7 but I had lost count of the misery) of debilitating lower back, rear shoulder, and hip pain, a co-worker friend suggested I give chiropractic care a try.  He specifically recommended the chiropractor he had been visiting -- Dr. Katie Sleigh.

Now I had never given it a lot of consideration, but it would have been accurate to call me a skeptic.  However, the discomfort in my back, shoulder, and hip had gotten to a point where consistent exercise was impossible, and playing softball and golf, two pastimes in which I participated more than regularly, became more pain than pleasure, and I could no longer compete the way I wanted.  After spending most of my years through about age 35 at a fairly decent fitness level, I was seemingly helpless to prevent the inevitable weight gain from the lack of activity.  Worse, though, were the effects inside my body, including elevated blood pressure, along with its long-term dangers, and seemingly constant aches and pains radiating throughout much of my body.  Visits to various traditional doctors, including sports-related orthopedics, did nothing more than frustrate me with a lack of any specific diagnoses or treatments.

Welcome, Dr. Katie.  Sleigh Family Chiropractic felt like family on my very first visit back in January.  Dr. Katie was thorough and caring, more so than I had experienced with any other medical professional to date.  Her initial examination covered not just my symptoms, but my lifestyle as well to better understand what I hoped to accomplish under her care.  When reviewing the results of the exam, Dr. Katie again demonstrated her thoroughness, expertise, and genuine concern for my long-term well-being.  She laid out a plan to aggressively manage the symptoms in my early visits while forming a solid foundation for maintenance care and more importantly, my body’s own ability to become and remain strong and healthy.

It wasn’t long before I was back to regular exercise, including running long distances on consecutive days, something I hadn’t been able to do since my early 30’s (I’m now 42).  I lost 18 pounds and returned to my ideal weight, and my blood pressure returned to normal.  The aches and pains and limitations to my movements vanished.

Most important was the re-appearance of my quality of life.  I was able to train for and complete a half-marathon this year, and in a time well under my stated goal.  I’m thrilled that my softball and golf games returned – it’s great to compete again and maybe still teach the youngsters a thing or two.  I can very actively coach both of my children’s softball and baseball teams, leading by example rather than just by words.  These are just a few of the things Dr. Katie has returned to me.

Is there still occasional soreness from the rigors of all the activity?  Of course, but what’s most encouraging is how well my body now repairs itself.  Starting with my first visit, Dr. Katie emphasized the body’s amazing ability to take care of itself if we just give it the chance.  I couldn’t imagine at that time just how accurate that statement is.  Now I know.  I visit Dr. Katie for occasional maintenance now, and that extra little reassurance for my body coupled with the vastly improved state of being she has helped create in me provides the platform for renewed and continuous health and vigor.

You can't call me a skeptic anymore, and I thank Dr. Katie for it. " –Bob

Abdominal Pain & Constipation

“My fourteen year old daughter was admitted into the hospital in February with severe abdominal pain. The diagnosis was a blocked colon. At this time, they cleaned her system out and suggested exercise, food with fiber and water. My daughter, being a three-sport athlete, and very conscious of her diet, had already been doing this. Abdominal pain persisted in which we saw several specialists and even had a colonoscopy. The doctors could find nothing wrong and had no other treatments besides laxatives, which were not working. After seven months of irregularity, abdominal pain and every laxative known to man tried, we were at our wits end. Mid September we decided, reluctantly, to try chiropractic treatment, after all, we had nothing to lose. My daughter saw Dr. Quintin for the first time on a Saturday. Our very next appointment was the following Monday. Dr. Quintin stated that if chiropractic treatment was going to help my daughter it was going to help in a very short time. There was never a long drawn out plan for her relief of pain.

I remember stating to my daughter after the second visit, that was just two days after the original visit, that it would be wonderful if this would work and relieve my daughter of constant pain.

It was that very evening of our second visit that my daughter started her road to recovery. She has had normal regular bowel movements ever since and has virtually no abdominal pain since. She now can compete athletically pain free.

Thank you Sleigh Family Chiropractic.” -Kerry

Torticollis

“I first sought out the use of a chiropractor when my youngest daughter was 3 months old.  My husband and I noticed she had a strong preference for tilting her head to one side while in her car seat and during sleep.  The torticollis in her neck caused plagiocephy, or flattening, on one side of her head.  I began my search for a pediatric chiropractor and found Dr. Katie Sleigh.  I was immediately drawn to her compassionate and gentle approach.  She worked with my daughter for the next several months and we saw a dramatic improvement on her range of motion and head positioning.  One thing that stands out in my mind is the holistic approach that Dr. Katie and Dr. Quintin utilize in their practice.  They provided an infant massage specialist for me to meet in the office as well as numerous discussions on vaccinations and nutritional information.  I was so excited to find out that by the age of 7 months old, my daughter was no longer a candidate for helmet reshaping therapy.  Her plagiocephy has been corrected, and I believe it is attributable in large part to the adjustments from Dr. Katie.  Furthermore, I learned about the advantages of spinal health and now my 5 year old daughter, 3 year old daughter and myself receive adjustments when needed.  One last thing I must comment on is the amazingly friendly atmosphere at the Sleigh Family Chiropractic offices.  My children are excited when I tell them we have an appointment because they love to color in the kids area, play peek-a-boo with Dr. Quintin, receive adjustments from Dr. Katie and finally pick out stickers with Tara.  I am sure to spread the word about these wonderful Doctors!” –Amanda

Pregnancy

“I have suffered from tension pain in my upper shoulders/back for several years that created tingling down my arms. The pain would become unbelievable and I would take muscle relaxers and pain killers. However, the pain started again when I was 4 ½ months pregnant. My doctor recommended seeing a chiropractor. I figured it would be better than dealing with the pain. I was unable to concentrate at work or do normal activities due to the pain. I was referred to Sleigh Family Chiropractic and they were able to get me in for my first appointment immediately. Dr. Katie is an incredible friend and doctor. She cares with a huge heart and was so warm and welcoming. Within a few weeks the upper back pain and arms felt great however due to my weight and pregnancy I began to suffer from terrible lower back pain and upper leg pains. Again, Dr. Katie helped the pain and was always available for me to come in with little notice. I did a great deal of crying and Dr. Katie always made me feel so much better – emotionally and physically.

I was induced at 39 weeks and was in labor for only 5 hours. I pushed only twice before my daughter was born. Yes, I had an epidural, however, I had no long pushing and my recovery was minimal. I truly believe this was due to the chiropractic care I received throughout my pregnancy. Dr. Katie kept my ligaments in place and kept my back adjusted. Allowing more room for my daughter to grow and made labor that much easier. I would recommend chiropractic care for all pregnant women. Dr. Katie is an incredible women and Dr. Quintin was and is always friendly and caring. The team at Sleigh Family Chiropractic is incredible and I am grateful to them every day for helping me throughout a rough pregnancy." -Amy

Severe Neck Pain

“I can’t remember the name of my condition, but to describe it as a severe pain in the neck is accurate.  It hurt to lean forward and eat, to lay on my side, to drive, to do almost everything, sometimes to even breathe.  It would come and go throughout the year, over more than 10 years, and previous attempts by Doctors and other Chiropractors didn’t quite fix it.  I was taking over the counter pain meds to be able to do the things I enjoyed.

Drs Katie and Quintin were recommended by my work colleague, and upon my first visit I was cared for by Dr Katie.  I immediately felt comfortable in their relaxed and friendly office, which is so important when you are in direct personal contact with a Doctor.  Despite being in pain, I came away from my first consultation with a feeling that they could help me.  They have a progressive attitude to health in general, and I learned a lot more about chiropractic and general well-being than in previous experiences.  A plan was laid out to get me back to health, and with each adjustment Dr Katie explained what she was doing, how it would help me and answered any question I had.

Since attending Sleigh Family Chiropractic, I have felt pain free and able to do all that I like doing, and it has prompted me to address other areas of my health that I wanted to improve.  I am currently in the Transitions program that Drs Katie and Quintin run, and am getting healthier and happier by the week.  I am learning a whole new approach to weight loss, and guess what, it involves eating real food!

Thank you Drs Katie and Quintin for your help and support.” –Lisa

Pain Free Low Back

"I have had lower back pain on and of for many years.  I have had surgery, worked with orthopedics, physical therapists, acupuncturists, and even other chiropractors. I was first impressed by the business approach your office takes to helping patients get better. You look at what is going on, and lay out a plan, in simple English, so everyone knows what is happening at all times.

I have been a patient of yours for the past six months. My lower back is pain free, and I am much better, and know I am on a great path to maintain this for many years to come.

The reason for this letter is to thank you. My family and I recently took a trip to Israel, which is a 13 hour plane ride. This is the first time I have been on a plane that I have not complained about my back in more years than I can count. Usually sitting in that confined space for any length of time, let alone 13 hours, is something I tend to pay the price for days after I have traveled.

I am glad to be back in your care, and know we will do the same magic with my neck that you have done with my back." Merle

Back and Hip Pain

“I met Drs. Katie and Quinten Sleigh through a Health Fair in Wheeling, Illinois.  I was suffering from back and hip pain that was diagnosed as bursitis and lumbar problems.

I have had flare-ups with this for years, since in my 40’s and this last flare-up prompted me to talk to Drs. Sleigh at this health fair.  They explained to me the procedures they used with my type of problems and what happens with the first visit. I had x-rays of my back and my back was scanned.  Dr. Katie explained where my problems are and why I suffered from this pain.  My previous treatment of flair-ups were shots, physical therapy, MRI’s, x-rays and many visits to a Orthopedic doctor. Walking and exercising were impossible with the pain. This pain was with me when I woke up in the morning, all day, and when I went to bed. I took many pain pills with no relief.

I went to Sleigh Family Chiropractic as I was so desperate, in pain and tired of feeling this way.  The first treatment I had I noticed how much better I felt.  As my visits and treatments became more and more I started to feel great, I had more energy and was a happier person. I was able to walk (now up to 4 miles) three times a week without any flair-ups, and do the stretching exercises Dr. Katie showed me.  Believe me, this is no lie, I have never felt this great in years.  I am able to do things I haven’t done in years, like doing cleaning chores around the house, decorating, and driving to places more. My friends and co-workers have noticed the difference in me because I am feeling tons better.

I have recommended Drs. Katie and Quintin to my friends and family.  I am a believer in Dr. Katie because she has helped me so much and I am so appreciative.  She has given me a better quality of life.” -Betty

Leg Pain

"I started seeing Dr. Katie about three months ago as a referral from a friend, who, like me, was in great pain. My particular issue was with my legs.

I can’t remember when the pain, heaviness, aching and downright “I just want to fall” feelings started. I think it was around four years ago. During all this I had restless leg syndrome from some time. I did try to talk to my doctor about it, but it was like an “it’ll go away thing.”

I had seen my friend one day and I commented on how great she looked. She told me that she wasn’t in pain anymore and recommended Sleigh Family Chiropractic. She knew I had some major pain going on. My day would usually start off taking two Advil’s every morning and gripping onto the railings as I go up stairs.

Well, after being evaluated by Dr. Katie and two treatments later, I felt great!! I am definitely not saying I’m 100% better; even I know that will take time and dedicated stretching. Not only do I not take Advil anymore, my restless leg has subsided to the point that I may get it every now and then. An extra bonus was that what I thought was a common part of my life, headaches, have also decreased. I am more active and a lot less grumpy and short tempered. Pain can really get the best of you.

I have been extremely happy here. The doctors explain everything to you, and in a way that you understand and make you more aware of your body. Brittany is great too and helps work with my schedule.

My goal is to not only keep getting better, but to get every person in my office to see Drs. Katie and Quintin.

THANK YOU DR. KATIE and everyone in your office!"  -Roxanne

Whiplash

“My name is Margie Passias. I am 54 years old. I was in pain for the last few years, even more pain after my recent car accident that took place a few months ago. From the accident I got a severe case of whiplash. The pain was mainly located in the back of my head and in my neck. I don’t wish this kind of pain on anyone. The feeling was horrible.

For a while I was going from doctor to doctor, all of which wanted to put me on all different kinds of medication. For example:  One doctor prescribed me Propranolol, Baclofen, Xanex, Propoxyphene-n, antibiotic, god only knows what else. I don’t even know if my body would have been able to handle taking all the medications together. The doctor diagnosed me with depression, an ear infection, and a sinus infection. None of the doctors I’ve seen mentioned to me that I may have needed x-rays to see what was causing the horrible pain, especially after explaining to them what I had been through with the injuries. I thought I was going to have to live the rest of my life in pain until I started looking for my last hope – a chiropractor. I had never believed in chiropractors. Why? I think because of all of the rumors I have heard.

I wanted to find a chiropractor close to my home. Sleigh Family Chiropractic caught my eye. After I read some reviews I was sure I wanted to see them. I scheduled for my evaluation appointment and ended up not showing up. I was too afraid. A few weeks passed and the pain became unbearable. I rescheduled and gained the courage to go in. That’s when my life changed for the best.

It has already been 4 months that I have been going for treatments. Dr. Quintin and his wife are the nicest people. At their office you feel safe and welcome. The atmosphere is awesome. They both do everything and anything to help their patients. The most important thing is they are the best educated chiropractors out there. I am doing much better now without taking any medications.

As one of the flyers at their office said, “Healing is like a stock market. It never progresses in a straight line. You have got to expect some ups and downs along the way. Like stocks, the gains in chiropractic care are best seen over time. When you look back and see how far you have come since your first visit you will realize that dividends are paying off.” This is exactly what I experienced. My headaches are much less painful and sometimes I don’t have them at all.

Thanks to Dr. Quintin I know now how awesome one can feel without pain. I know for sure that when my pain is completely resolved I will continue to come in for regular adjustments in order to remain healthy.

If you or anyone you know has some problems similar to mine, please call their office. It will change your life forever.

Dr. Quintin, I am very grateful for making me believe that there is more to life than ongoing pain. Thanks you!” -Margie

Plantar Fasciitis

“I have been dealing with plantar fasciitis for almost one year. It started in my left heel after I completed my first marathon. I tried custom orthotics, special stretches, wearing the Strassburg sock at night, icing, and rolling my foot on a roller. All of these interventions helped the pain but it was definitely still constantly present, especially after my long runs.

During my 2nd marathon, the heel pain started earlier than expected in the race and got worse as the race went on. I met Dr. Katie at Baxter and mentioned my symptoms and later found out that chiropractic therapy could be an option in relieving my condition. After the first couple adjustments and a new running style, my heel pain is almost non-existent. I was able to do a 15K race with no heel pain after the race or the next morning. Recently, I also did a 14 mile training run with no heel pain that day or the subsequent days. I can’t remember the last time that has happened. Last winter I could not complete 2 miles without being in pain at the beginning and end of my runs.

My goal is to be able to do another marathon in the spring and/or fall and have much easier long training runs and times closer to or even better than my first marathon before this problem happened.

Thank you Sleigh Family Chiropractors for making running more enjoyable again!” -Amy F.
