Pregnancy Exercises

During pregnancy, it is very important to tone the muscles and prepare for labor and delivery.  Drs. Quintin and Katie Sleigh of Sleigh Family Chiropractic in Arlington Heights customize exercises and stretches for patients that come into the office depending on their condition.  Since they have a special focus on helping pregnant women, they have helped many pregnant women choose safe pregnancy exercises to get the mom to be ready for delivery without causing injury.

Drs. Sleigh recommend the pelvic rock exercise for almost all pregnant women.  It helps to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles and can provide a gentle lower back stretch.  To learn how to do this exercise click this link for our pelvic rock exercise video.

Drs. Sleigh also recommend 2 exercises to avoid breech presentation of the baby.  To avoid c-section, it is important for the baby to be in the vertex (head down) position rather than the breech (head up) position.  Click here for videos that show Exercise #1 to avoid breech presentation and Exercise #2 to avoid breech presentation.  In addition, Drs. Quintin and Katie Sleigh use the Webster Technique to help the baby get into the ideal birthing position.  For more information on the Webster Technique, visit our Webster Technique page.
